Role Overview

Dunbar Security is hiring a Retail Security Officer to assist with day-to-day safety and loss prevention inside a busy store environment. This role focuses on keeping operations running smoothly by observing activity, addressing concerns when they arise, and supporting both staff and customers.

This position works best for someone who is aware of their surroundings, communicates clearly, and can handle a public-facing role with confidence.

 

What You Will Be Doing

• Keep watch over the sales floor to identify potential theft or policy issues
• Pay attention to customer and staff activity and escalate concerns when needed
• Handle door alarm activations and confirm purchases in a respectful way
• Walk the store and nearby areas at regular intervals
• Stay visible to help reduce unwanted behavior
• Record incidents and daily observations in a clear, organized manner
• Coordinate with store employees when addressing safety or loss concerns
• Assist customers when appropriate while upholding store guidelines
• Take on other related tasks as directed by store leadership

 

What You Will Need

• At least 18 years old
• Strong people skills and the ability to communicate clearly
• Ability to remain focused and professional throughout the shift
• Dependable attendance and willingness to work a flexible schedule
• Comfort working in a retail setting with frequent public interaction

 

Helpful Background

• Experience in retail security, loss prevention, or customer service
• Basic understanding of incident reporting or documentation

 

Work Setting

• Indoor retail environment with steady foot traffic
• Active role involving frequent standing and walking
• Schedule may shift based on store coverage needs, including weekends
