Job Summary

The Credentials Manager provides operational leadership and oversight of hospital credentialing, privileging and onboarding functions. This role is responsible for supervising credentialing personnel and ensuring the efficient, compliant administration of medical staff credentialing and privileging processes. The Credentials Manager works collaboratively with Medical Staff leadership, including the Credentials Committee Chair and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), to facilitate timely review and approval of practitioner applications and to support Medical Executive Committee (MEC) activities. Reports to the Corporate Director of Medical Affairs under the Chief Medical Officer. 

 

Responsibilities

Staff Management:

· Directly supervises and manages assigned staff.

· Provides leadership, coaching and performance oversight.

· Plans, organizes, and directs daily work activities of team members.

· Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training and evaluating staff.

· Develops staff schedules and ensures adequate coverage.

· Promotes staff engagement, accountability and professional development.

· Ensures compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

· Manages workload distribution and monitors productivity and turnaround time metrics.

 

Credentialing:

· Develop, recommend, implement, and monitor approved Credentialing policies, procedures, and processes while identifying issues that impact the ability of the organization to successfully meet accreditation and regulatory standards, medical staff governing documents, as well as the needs of the organization when possible.

· Coordinating reappointment cycles across Vandalia.

· Work closely with the Medical Staff Services staff for Vandalia North facilities.

· Accountable for assuring ongoing high-quality support for Credentials Committee activities as liaison to the Credentials Chair and, to include appropriately flagging files, attention to the details needed for discussion, Dept Chief reviews via Virtual Committee, agenda prep, pre-meeting prep and oversight, minutes content and reports to MSEC and Board.

· Accountable to ensure staff have appropriately prepared new appointees and APPs with their onboarding processes.

· Function as an Administrator for credentialing software while developing policies/procedures for data management, input, and reporting while working with the Lead System Analyst to monitor and evaluate data reliability.

· Work in conjunction with the Privileging Manager to ensure privileging processes are accurate and institutional criteria has been created prior to granting privileges for new procedures.

· Manage the pre-application process to determine whether a candidate meets the minimum threshold eligibility criteria prior to application process.

· Excellent communicators and ensuring staff are communicating the needs to key stakeholders.

(Direct responsibilities for Vandalia CAMC and PMC and indirect for GVMC)

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education 

• Associate's Degree (Required) Associates or bachelors degree and 2 years’ experience in medical staff services or credentialing or SUBSTITUTIONS May substitute Degree with minimum 4 years Medical Staff Services experience and Coordinator/Manager experience.

• Cert Prof in Med Services
