Safety Specialist - General Industry

Vaughn Industries currently has an opening for a Safety Specialist.

The Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe and compliant work environment across general industry operations. This role partners with leadership and employees to implement safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. The Safety Specialist plays a key role in hazard identification, incident prevention, training, and fostering a proactive safety culture.

Duties: 

• Partner with General Industry departments—including maintenance, warehouse, fabrication shops, laydown yards, and office/retail environments—to support safe and compliant operations
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employees and leadership to promote a proactive safety culture
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and monitor regulatory changes and best practices
• Conduct facility inspections, audits, and targeted assessments to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance
• Develop, implement, and maintain emergency action plans across General Industry locations
• Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
• Collect and address employee feedback to drive continuous improvement in safety processes, equipment, and planning
• Manage and prepare required safety documentation and compliance records
• Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental, health, and safety risks, including industrial hygiene and process-related hazards
• Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) tailored to operational activities
• Deliver safety training in both classroom and field environments
• Coordinate third-party safety audits and support environmental compliance initiatives
• Collaborate with process engineers and facility leadership to integrate safety into operational workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, or related field preferred 
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant 
• OSHA 30
• 3-5 years of experience in general industry safety or occupational safety
