This temporary position is with NC Agriculture & Consumer Services - Marketing, located at 1801 Yorkmont Road, Charlotte NC, Mecklenburg County. 

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $18.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). 

The NC Agriculture - Charlotte Regional Farmers Market has a need for a full-time, long-term temporary assignment for a Maintenance / Construction Technician I. The selected candidate will perform:
 Maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and grounds includes carpentry, heating, cooling, mowing, pruning, fertilizing and spraying
 Maintenance of all Market equipment service records and minor repairs
 Direct and assist with the custodial maintenance responsibilities including general housekeeping and trash removal
 Provide general assistance with the operation of the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. 

Basic to general knowledge of the principles and techniques of assigned trades. Basic knowledge of general maintenance and building repair. Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment necessary to the work. Ability to read and interpret building codes. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to operate the more common types of shop or wood working equipment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Physical strength sufficient to perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods of time.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
