Associated Students is now hiring for the position of Adventure Outings Student Climbing Wall Floor Staff. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position that will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session. The pay rate is $16.90 per hour. The schedule for this position is based upon department needs and is subject to change at any time. To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled at CSU, Chico and maintain at least 6 units (undergraduate student) or 4 units (graduate student) throughout the course of employment.

WREC Climbing Gym Floor Staff
SUMMARY
Climbing Gym Floor Staff manage the front desk and supervise the climbing floor. They check participants in, enter data into Fusion, and handle gear check-out and check-in. On the floor, they belay members and actively ensure all climbers and belayers follow safety protocols. They also deliver gym orientations, enforce rules, report incidents, and complete opening and closing tasks. With manager approval, they may take on route setting duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure participant safety by monitoring climbing and belaying activities
- Enforce all WREC Climbing Gym policies and procedures
- Check in participants and manage records using Fusion
- Issue, inspect, and maintain climbing equipment
- Report incidents and concerns to the Climbing Wall Supervisor
- Complete opening and closing duties as assigned
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the gym and front desk areas
- Engage with and assist participants in a professional, approachable manner
- Be prepared to belay and actively offer belays to participants
- Properly store and care for all climbing wall equipment
- Participate in ongoing technical climbing education and training
- Set climbing routes when approved by the Climbing Gym Manager
- Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, and respect for all individuals
- Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills

- Safely belay participants and provide basic climbing instruction

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Working knowledge of the WREC Climbing Gym
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 30 days of hire
- WREC Belay Certification within 30 days of hire
- Enrolled in at least six units at CSU, Chico.
