Pace University’s Center for Student Engagement is seeking a part-time Orientation Coordinator Intern. This position is part of a cohort-model internship experience designed to provide interns with a well-rounded introduction to student affairs. Interns will have opportunities to gain experience in areas such as Housing and Residential Life. A Lunch & Learn series, featuring professional staff from departments across the University, will be offered throughout the summer to support professional development.

 

The Orientation Coordinator Intern is expected to maintain professional boundaries with student staff, serve as a role model for Orientation Leaders and incoming students, and observe all University, Orientation program, and Housing and Residential Life policies.

 

Position Duties

  • Assist with the preparation, management and logistical support of summer orientation programs.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Orientation Leader training program.
  • Supervises 20 Orientation Leader student staff.
  • Assign and manage orientation leader assignments.
  • Coordinate with Student Engagement to plan and staff programming during the overnight component. 
  • Coordinate session and overnight check-in processes.
  • First responder for all overnight new students including early arrival and late departure students.
  • Provide staff development through continuous feedback and support.
  • Assist with orientation assessment and Orientation Week program development.
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.     

 

 

Position Qualifications

  • Current graduate student with desire to work with undergraduate students.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Orientation experience and event planning preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable and patient with visitors.
  • Office experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.

 

Work Hours

Exact hours to be determined with supervisor; generally up to 20 hours per week.
