Linen Clerk - Full-time

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for ordering restock linens from off-site vendor, clean linen distribution, soiled linen pick up, surgical linen pack delivery and performs other duties as assigned. Performs all duties within established department policies and procedures. Assists with ordering linen packs from the distributer.

Responsibilities

Linen Duties
Fill requests for clean linens, scrubs, lab jackets or surgical packs. Replenish clean linens, scrubs or surgical packs to par levels in the assigned areas. Pick up soiled linens/scrubs/lab jackets in the designated areas in a timely manner and stage forpick-up by outside linen service provider. Reduces clutter and increases available work space by consolidating and organizing undistributedclean linens, scrubs and surgical packs. Fills and assembles the linen surgical pack list provided by Sterile Processing and delivers thesurgical linen packs to Sterile Processing daily. Orders clean linens daily for restock according to established departmental guidelines from outsidelinen provider. Accurately keys all linen issues into the computer system to assure proper departmental charging. Maintains a sample pack of each surgical linen pack in the event of an emergency or short staffing. Fills and stages clean linen requests for offsite departments and affiliates. Follows routine cleaning schedule. Independently performs all duty functions with little or no supervision. Notifies supervisor in a timely manner of any equipment problems or of any shortages of linen or supplies. Works as a team player, has positive interactions with coworkers/customers and refrains from gossip.

Responds to inquiries in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner. Promptly answers phones in a polite, professional and courteous manner. Handles all communications in a polite and courteous manner. Interacts with coworkers, patients, visitors and medical staff in a business-like, professional and friendly manner.

Performs Other Duties as Required
Attends mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and actively participates in self-education. Maintains a clean and well-organized work environment (i.e. floors are swept, shelves are clean,empty boxes are disposed of, supplies & Linens are well organized, etc). Always uses Personal Protective Equipment and follows infection control standards and universal precautions. Notifies supervisor of any linen or supply shortage when discovered. Notifies supervisor of any equipment problems when discovered. Utilizes down time to assist others and/or complete other job related duties. Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.

Ability to work at a fast pace, read and write, and perform various tasks.

Education 

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
