Summary:
The Biomedical Maintenance Software Systems Administrator will play a pivotal role in managing and maintaining the software systems that support our hospital's biomedical equipment. This individual will ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of these systems to support our mission of delivering exceptional trauma care. The role involves coordinating between the IT and Biomedical Engineering departments to optimize software performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades. Provides technical support services for ANMC Biomedical Software Department; installs and configures computer network systems; troubleshoots problems and provides system maintenance services, database management systems.

Responsibilities:

Designs, builds, installs, configures and manages biomedical computer software maintenance systems, including all of the maintained equipment for the Alaska Native Medical Center. Assures system security, stability and maximum uptime. Analyzes problems and implements solutions according to BSS Department procedures. Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the biomed software systems. Monitors system performance and ensures optimal functionality of biomedical maintenance systems.

Provides advanced technical support for the biomedical computerized maintenance management systems to meet both Joint Commission Standards and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid services certifications. Analyzes maintenance system functionality; identifies, locates, resolves and repairs problems within scope of authority as the subject matter expert. Provides technical support and troubleshooting for the biomedical maintenance software issues reported by clinical staff and biomedical engineers. Develops and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures, resolutions., productivity reports, and overall surveillance of the biomedical maintenance management software.

Monitors maintenance network environment; resolves configuration, connectivity, traffic, security and access problems. Performs regular system updates and patches to ensure software security and reliability. Develops tests and implements secure configuration solutions. Checks network and personnel for operating efficiency, makes corrective adjustments to data management settings, and assures system integrity.

Develops designs, installs and configures system software and software applications. Installs, configures and updates application software improvements, interfaces and domain security protocols. Develop and document procedures for various system utilities. Manages users, access, and overall functionality.

Perform daily, weekly and quarterly backups of maintenance systems and other backups as required. Load and test operating system and application software releases, and fixes in both test and production environments.

Develops programming solutions for integrated applications. Develops, repairs and deploys new applications. Prepares technical documentation of maintenance reports and architecture. Documents all aspects of system configuration and maintenance changes to meet Vendor, JC, FDA and HIPAA requirements.

Maintains an accurate report of equipment and software installations, maintenance activities and malfunctions. Provides project management of system implementation and systems upgrades following Project management procedures and Biomedical standard operating procedures. Implements change and change requests, as well as manages all data collection, implementation, and accuracy of information vetted through the data integrity team.

Skill in Linux, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Active Directory and Active Directory GPO’s, NetApp CDOT 8.2 and VMware 5.x systems management.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Biomedical Maintenance Systems Administrator I

An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Biomedical Maintenance Systems Administrator II & III

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Biomedical Systems Administrator I

Non-supervisory - Two (2) years of computer network systems administration experience.

Biomedical Maintenance Systems Administrator II

Non-supervisory - Five (5) years of computer network systems administration experience with at least two (2) years in a hospital/medical environment. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

Biomedical Maintenance Systems Administrator III

Non-supervisory - Ten (10) years of computer network systems administration experience with at least six (6) years in a hospital/medical environment. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

All other certifications as required for specific work area.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

May require travel up to 25% time to remote locations by small plane, boat, snowmobile or ATV.

May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.

May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.

According to the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional systems certifications.
