The Seaway Valley Prevention Council seeks a compassionate and organized individual to serve as a Recovery Advocate at The Valley Recovery Center in Ogdensburg. This position is available temporarily, April 2026- December 31, 2027.
The Recovery Advocate provides immediate support to Valley Recovery Center members and visitors. This support includes leading individual and group discussions, organizing activities, making referrals and connections, and overseeing the Center's daily activities.
Recovery Advocates embrace opportunities to cultivate a compassionate and inclusive space for individuals on their recovery journey, sharing perspective and insight on addiction and recovery strategies, and fostering personal growth. A Recovery Advocate is a Peer Professional who creates an environment that promotes skill development, providing Recovery Center members with the tools necessary to navigate life's challenges and prevent reoccurrence.
The minimum requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent. Obtaining a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) credential is required upon hire.
Some evening and night hours are required.
