Job Summary
With a patient centered culture, the Sterile Processing Technician will provide a positive experience to patients through cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing medical supplies via the use of steam, gas, or chemicals The processing technician prepares treatment and procedure trays, wraps medical devices, and prepares surgical case carts. The Sterile Processing Technician maintains the sterile supply storage area and is responsible for receiving and distributing departmental supplies.

Equipment Skills
Demonstrates essential skills to use all equipment according to policy, procedure and manufacturer’s directions related to job responsibilities.
Job Skills
Possesses the job skills and knowledge to perform the job in a competent team oriented manner. The skills are demonstrated in day-to-day conditions by accurately assembling, labeling and preparing instruments for sterilization.
Planning
Prepares instruments and allocates supplies for each case cart to ensure extraordinary patient care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
Safety
Understands every safety practice expected by Mon Health. Engages in practices that decrease the risk of accidents, injuries or equipment failures.
Technical Skills
Possesses the technical skills and knowledge required to perform essential tasks in an efficient and effective manner to provide clinical excellence one patient at a time.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Heavy WorkExerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly.
Experience in a sterile processing area or operating room preferred. Demonstrated ability to utilize aseptic and sterile techniques normally acquired through previous work experience or formal course work/training.
Education
• Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program (Required)
• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Credentials
• Certified Surgical Tech
