Job Title: Personal Care Attendant (PCA)
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to provide in-home support to individuals who require assistance due to aging, illness, disability, or other conditions. The PCA will deliver care in a respectful and professional manner while promoting client independence, safety, and well-being.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
- Support mobility through ambulation, transferring, positioning, and prescribed exercises
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure
- Provide medication reminders as outlined in the care plan
- Assist with personal hygiene, skin care, and overall comfort
- Follow special dietary plans under the direction of healthcare professionals
- Follow individualized care plans and ensure proper service delivery
- Report changes in clients’ physical, emotional, or cognitive conditions to the Supervisor
- Communicate effectively with the care team and participate in care discussions
- Escort clients to medical appointments, errands, and outings
- Assist clients with communication needs (e.g., writing correspondence, gathering information)
- Identify and report unsafe conditions in the home environment
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and social interaction
- Assist with meal preparation and routine housekeeping (cleaning, laundry, organizing)
- Perform errands and shopping, including handling client funds when required
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment
- Document daily activities, observations, and service hours accurately
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and required orientations
- Follow all agency policies, procedures, and care standards
- Build positive relationships with clients, families, and team members
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Education & Knowledge
- Knowledge of personal care and home management practices
- Basic understanding of healthcare procedures, including first aid and CPR
- Familiarity with documentation and record-keeping
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to safely assist clients with ADLs and mobility
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to observe and report changes in client condition
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate, patient, and attentive to client needs
Requirements
- Certification in Personal Care
- Current driver’s license
- Proper Vehicle Insurance Coverage
Training/Experience:
- May require related experience.
- On the job training for new activities
