MECH Program by Mercedes Benz - Full-time

Are you interested in Industrial Maintenance and Robotics? Do you want to receive an education and earn money while working? Interested in starting a career at Mercedes Benz U.S. International? If yes, then the Mechatronics student training program is for you!

Program Details

• 7 semesters of school and work.
• Paid part-time work hours – starting $18/hour.
• Earn an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Industrial Electronics and a Short Certificate in Industrial Maintenance.
• Attend classes at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
• MBUSI supports with tuition and fees beginning with the first semester.
  • After the first semester, tuition support increases each additional semester for students who maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Training Content

• Industrial Electronics (ILT) courses at Shelton State Community College. 
• During the program, receive both Production-related and Maintenance experience through required On-The-Job Training days.

Work Requirements

• Applicants must be able to perform all duties listed in the standard Production Team Member and standard Maintenance Team Member job description.
• Applicants must be able to lift a minimum 25lbs without assistance.
• Applicants must be able to climb at unrestricted heights.
• Applicants must be able to bend, stoop and twist.
• Applicants must be able to stand up to 8 hours per day.
• Applicants must be able to perform overhead work.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by August 15, 2026.

School Requirements

• Applicants must be eligible to take a college-level English their first semester in the
• program.
• Applicants must have a 2.75 High School GPA or better.
• Applicants must have an ACT Score of 17 or better and/or Accuplacer Score of 4 or better.
• Applicants must be able to provide transcripts to Shelton State Community College.

Upon Graduation

• All successful students are hired.
• Technician Training: Based on finishing GPA and On-The-Job training evaluations, topperforming students begin an 18 month training program for an opportunity* to fill the role of full time Maintenance Technician. *required to pass State Maintenance Test
