POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of your job position is to provide each resident with routine daily nursing care in accordance with the resident assessment plan along with current federal, state, and local standards that govern the facility, and as directed by your supervisors. 

Upon hire you will begin as a Resident Assistant (RA). At this time, Lassen Nursing and Rehab Center (LNRC) will pay the CNA class fee of $1800, in agreement that the employee will work for LNRC for one year. The employee will immediately start theory which is the first step in the CNA program. Theory classes, lasting 28 days from date of hire, are provided through SISU Care on site in our classroom. Clinicals will take place monthly at LNRC, lasting 15 days with our onsite clinical instructor. After clinicals are completed, the employee will be put on the floor as a Nurse’s Assistant (NA) and train with a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) until the NA is able to take their state test to become certified. Once the NA has passed their test and becomes a CNA, they will begin their year contract working as a CNA at LNRC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answering call lights

  •  Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy 

  • Making beds, organizing nightstands and closets, and ensuring belongings are dated and labeled

  • After nurse check is complete assistant can pass snacks and meal trays

  • Changing resident toiletries out monthly and emptying resident receptacles

  • Stocking drawers with briefs and sanitary wipes

  • Assist in post meal tray pick-up and cleaning dining rooms

  • Transporting residents to dining area (for meals and activities) and returning them to their room

  • Timely reporting of change in resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor

  • Protecting each residents file and data with confidentiality per HIPAA standards

  • Abiding with all facility policies and procedures including not disclosing user ID codes and passwords

  • Following Infection and Control policies

  • Reporting any occupational exposures to blood, bodily fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately

  • Attend periodic facility in-service training programs

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Education / Licensure

  • High school diploma or GED

Qualifications / Experience

  • Some experience helpful, will provide training 

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language

Working Conditions

  • May encounter frequent interruptions

  • May be involved with residents, family and government agencies

  • May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times

  • Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)

  • May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants

  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses

  • May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day

  • Working throughout the nursing areas

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Lifting more weight up to 100 pounds requires assistance

  • Ability to read fine print on tablet, progress notes and/or medical labels
