General Description:

The Family Navigator Developmental Screener will conduct developmental screenings for children ages 05 years, connect families to services when concerns are identified, provide follow-up to ensure access to care, perform outreach efforts to promote screenings, coordinate screening events, and train child care providers on screening tools.

Essential Function of the Job:

Conduct developmental screenings for children ages 0 to 5 years of age utilizing the ASQ3 (developmental) and ASQ-SE (social emotional) screening tools.

Review and explain screening results with families in a clear, supportive, and culturally responsive manner.

Coordinate referrals to early intervention and other appropriate services as needed.

Provide follow-up with families and service providers to ensure children successfully access services.

Support families with complex needs by navigating community systems and connecting them to appropriate resources.


  • Provide education and information on early childhood development and activities to support the building of age-appropriate skills.
  • Develop and deliver training and technical assistance to child care providers on the use and implementation of developmental screening tools.
  • Provide data and reports regarding developmental/social-emotional screenings monthly/quarterly.
  • Lead screening coordination efforts in accordance with funding requirements.
  • Advocate for the needs of children and families around early childhood development and create awareness of the importance of school readiness.


Required Skills & Abilities:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as internet experience

Knowledge of early childhood development and milestones for ages 05.

Ability to administer and interpret standardized screening tools (e.g., ASQ-3, ASQ:SE).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, family-centered approach.

Ability to connect families to resources, coordinate referrals, and navigate service systems.

Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with community partners and providers.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cases.

Ability to track, analyze, and report program data accurately.

Experience or ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.

Problem-solving skills to address barriers to service access.

Ability to work independently and lead program coordination efforts.

Knowledge of confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.


Education & Experience Required:

A minimum of two years experience using a computer database program, internet experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience

Minimum one year experience working with families, in an educational or social service setting, call center, or similar community resource service preferred

A.A. degree in Child Development or E.C.E., or at least 12 Core Units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development preferred

Bilingual Spanish required

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Good vision is imperative. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach; push; and pull. Manual dexterity and keyboarding are also required. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move 10 lbs.
