Job Description
Job Overview:The SpecimenCollectorhas responsibilities and duties related to patient care in a laboratory settingand/or on-site in a client facility.The individual must display behaviors thatcomply withthe clinic's strict privacy and confidentiality of patient and clinic information, as well as communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and patients.TheSpecimenCollector must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of their job description.You may be assigned to aclientslocation for regular collectionfor part of the day, though it may change according to the needs of theclient and the laboratory.
Primary Responsibility:
- Specimen collectionand lab duties (90%):
- Collecturineand DNA swabsamples, at various sites with VMW partners.
- Handlingand transferringspecimensfrom one container to another.
- Verify patient identity and obtain patient demographics
- Label creation and data entry into LIMS and/or EMR system
- Complete lab requisition forms
- Appropriately label andtransportspecimensto laboratory
- Confirm and clarifyphysician and lab orders
- Works with team to assure efficient patient flow andlaboratoryoperations (10%)
- BuildMailtoxkits and helpteammates with cleaning your work area, organizing, recycling, etc.
- Pick up specimens or drop-off supplies at other locations.
- Perform related and delegated tasksand training,as requested.
- Acts as Back-up and support toteammates.
RequiredSkills, Education, Experience, Credentialsand Knowledge:
- Strong computer skills

- Reliable vehiclefor daily use
- Valid Drivers License
- Valid Vehicle registration andfull coverageinsurance
- High school diploma or GED

- Ability tofacilitatefor up to 10 hours a day
- Ability to travel up to 10%

- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperceptionand ability to adjust focus
FLSA Status:Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm
Between 30-40 hours a week
Compensation:
*Compensation range is dependent on verified degrees, certification and number of years in equivalent work experience: $21 per hour.
*The compensation range may represent the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, qualifications, education, internal equity and business needs.
