Position Overview:



The Youth Recovery Advocate acts as an advocate for young adults (ages 18-24) with opioid and/or stimulant use disorders who are homeless or at risk of being homeless in Ross, Pike, Highland, Pickaway, and Fayette counties. The advocate builds trust, helps navigate systems, and promotes long-term wellness.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Observe all rules of confidentiality relating to clinical information and treatment within the agency and when communicating with external agencies or individuals.
  2. Schedule site visits to explain program eligibility, guidelines, and services to individuals and community agencies.
  3. Conduct intake interviews.
  4. Engage and enroll clients in support services, including housing support, peer recovery services, job training and employment support, transportation assistance, and childcare support during treatment.
  5. Actively identify and support linkages to community resources that support the clients goals and interests.

  6. Identify barriers to full participation in community resources and develop strategies to overcome identified barriers.

  7. Ensure clients have access to all forms of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).

  8. Work in collaboration with recovery support services team members.

  9. Use computer skills and software to enter program data.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required. A minimum of 2 years experience working with youth or community programs.
  • Knowledge of community resources, including social services.

  • Individual must have an understanding of and respect for each individuals path to recovery. Must have a demonstrated commitment to the recovery community.

  • Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others, and has good listening skills.

  • May work in a variety of environments including professional offices, treatment providers, schools, libraries, and community events.

  • The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
