Temporary Cable Systems Technician (OSP/ISP) Telecom Infrastructure Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cable Systems Technician for a temporary assignment supporting critical telecommunications infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals who excel in fast-paced environments and are ready to make an immediate impact on mission-critical voice and data systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong troubleshooting capabilities and experience in structured cable environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade underground, buried, and aerial cable systems supporting voice and data networks
- Interpret engineered drawings, statements of work, and technical manuals to execute work accurately and efficiently
- Prepare, install, and maintain distribution equipment and cable infrastructure
- Terminate tip cables on main distribution frames (MDF) and related systems
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot dry air compressors and cable pressurization systems (continuous flow and static)
- Perform pneumatic testing to identify faults using resistance measurements and pressure gradient analysis
- Locate, repair, and replace splice cases and pressure component assemblies
- Diagnose and resolve signal degradation issues using specialized test equipment
- Monitor compressor meter readings, adjust controls, and troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical malfunctions
- Ensure all work complies with technical standards, specifications, and engineered directives
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of work performed
What Sets You Apart:
- Strong background in OSP/ISP telecommunications systems, including copper infrastructure
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical, pneumatic, and signal issues
- Ability to quickly integrate into a team and contribute in a short-term, high-impact role
- Experience supporting government or secure environments is a plus
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 3years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and modifying telecommunications cable systems
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (desired, not required)
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
