We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Medical Assistant to join our growing team in both the front office and back office. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing long-term careers in healthcare and looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a primary care setting.
Position Overview
The Medical Assistant will work in both administrative and clinical capacities, supporting providers and ensuring smooth clinic operations.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Front Office (Administrative Duties)
Answer incoming phone calls and schedule patient appointments
Work with Virtual Assistant to coordinate the work .
Greet, check in, and check out patients.
Verify insurance eligibility and patient demographics.
Collect co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
Assist with insurance verifications, referrals, and prior authorizations.
Respond to patient questions, requests, and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
Coordinate appointment scheduling efficiently to optimize clinic flow.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance at all times.
Back Office (Clinical Duties)
Obtain and document patient history, chief complaint, medications, and allergies.
Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, BMI).
Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits.
Perform clinical procedures as directed, including:
EKGs
Urinalysis
Point-of-care testing (e.g., glucose, strep, flu, COVID, pregnancy tests)
Assist with minor in-office procedures.
Prepare exam rooms: opening, closing, cleaning, and restocking supplies.
Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Return phone calls to patients and pharmacies.
Assist with medication refill requests and prior authorizations.
Act as a medical scribe for providers when needed.
Follow all safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality protocols.
Qualifications
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (required).
College degree preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Strong interest in healthcare and patient care.
Previous medical or administrative experience preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively with providers and clinical staff.
A patient-centered mindset with a positive and professional attitude.
