Maintenance Mechanic needed for a packaging company in Irvine, CA.
Direct Hire position paying $34.21 - 37.89/hr plus .30 shift differential when on second shift. Excellent benefits including 401K, Medical, Dental, Vision, etc. Training will be on the 1st shift for at least 90 days and then move to the 2nd shift. Shift hours are Monday - Friday, 3 PM - 11 PM, plus overtime, including weekends. Union Environment. The company will complete a drug screen and background check prior to starting.
Purpose:
- Performs basic preventive maintenance on facilities and facility support equipment. Maintains the exterior of the building year-round.
- Performs facility repair work orders and facility upkeep as directed.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Utility workers as required to assure that specific job assignments are completed in a safe and timely fashion.
Duties Include:
- Safety – Works in a safe manner and ensures co-workers do so as well. Reports safety hazards immediately to the appropriate individual. Continues to expand safety awareness by participating in safety training programs.
- Performs basic facility preventive maintenance, including pest control abatement in production areas, filter changes on air conditioning units, cleaning air compressors, checking and correcting lubrication fluid levels on air compressors, chill water pumps, etc.
- Performs facility repair-type work orders. Including replacing lamp bulbs in lighting fixtures, repairing broken doorknobs, fixing water leaks, and painting.
- Responsible for seeing that the daily Janitorial duties are carried out throughout the Facility and maintained in an SQF compliance readiness.
- Responsible for working with the HSE Manager on overseeing the pickup and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Responsible for routine regulatory inspections per the HSE Manager in support of our Environmental and Safety Compliance programs.
- The job includes some travel to local vendors to deliver and pick up needed parts or materials. Also includes packaging of items to be sent out for repair or return from the Maintenance Services Department.
- Assists Craftsmen in basic preventive maintenance functions on production equipment.
- Displays good work habits that will set good examples for co-workers. Continually monitors and maintains work areas to keep them clean and well-organized.
- Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety and quality policies and procedures, including product safety (GMP’s)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of AIB/5’s and other company standards.
- Must be supportive of the company's Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
- Must be supportive and involved in the company's efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- May require overtime, weekend, and holiday work. Working environment may be noisy, odorous, hot, cold, or otherwise uncomfortable. Some jobs involve hazardous materials, gas pressures, or high voltage and may require heavy lifting.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience: Five (5) years of on-the-job experience as an electrician, mechanic, or plant maintenance.
- Education – Basic: High School or equivalent. Specialized: Basic electrical skills, basic mechanical skills, and basic carpentry skills.
- Specialized knowledge, machines or equipment operated: Volt meters, ammeters, ohmmeters, basic hand tools (electric saw, electric drill, welder, etc.).
- Environmental experience is a plus.
- Previous experience in the consumer packaging and printing industry a plus.
- Any of the following is a plus: Knowledge of equipment manufactured by KBA, Komori, Bobst, Jagenburg, and other Industry equipment.
