Key Responsibilities
- Perform donor procurement surgeries for thoracic organs, including heart and lungs
- Travel for organ recovery cases as part of an on-call procurement team
- Evaluate donor suitability in collaboration with transplant coordinators and physicians
- Ensure adherence to UNOS/OPTN guidelines and regulatory standards
- Collaborate closely with transplant surgeons, perfusionists, and OPO teams
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality assurance initiatives
- Participate in program development and performance improvement efforts
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery required
- Experience in donor procurement strongly preferred
- Eligible for or active New York medical license
- Strong surgical skills with the ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Willingness to travel and participate in a demanding on-call schedule
