Job Description
The mechanic must provide a wide range of mechanical advice as well as technical services on all company vehicles. This includes, but is not limited to dump trucks, end dumps, flatbed trucks, concrete trailers, fork lifts, wheel loaders, automobiles and other mechanical duties as assigned.
This is a journeyman mechanic position that requires significant technical training and /or experience. Detailed, Daily Mechanics Log must be completed each day and turned into the Operations Manager.
Duties:
Schedule and perform thorough, accurate Preventative Maintenance inspections on all vehicles on a routine basis. (Ex: Every 3 months/6 months)
Follow the maintenance schedule and complete all required preventive maintenance operations such as lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments.
Perform maintenance and fix company vehicles, as necessary.
Perform complex operations to include, but not limited to engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests.
Must be able to utilize a ladder and other elevation equipment to access the elevated areas such as light fixtures and for repairs and maintenance.
Must put the needs of the company first and offer advice and direction pertaining to a mechanic.
Must operate CDL and Non-CDL vehicles (wheel Loader/forklift) to perform tests. This is a safety sensitive job and all duties are regulated by the DOT.
Must be able to lift heavy equipment (up to 50lbs) including brake drums, tires, ladders, tool chests, floor jacks, etc., as necessary.
Must be able to operate bench grinder, torch, drill press, jack and jack stands, sawzall, oil pumps, power washer, parts cleaner and other hand tools required to perform work.
Available to perform emergency roadside services as needed. Requires operation of either replacement vehicle or utility truck.
Emergency conditions may require calls at home, extended hours, and/or weekend work.
Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately.
Maintain tools and workplace so that conditions are clean, neat and organized.
Must be thoroughly familiar with all safety provisions associated with vehicle maintenance. Understands OSHA standards and provisions.
Understand and conform to State EPA regulations regarding disposal of toxic waste substances.
Must use knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipment.
Must maintain effective communication about repairs and needs with the office.
Mandatory, daily cleaning of the mechanics area.
Must use time efficiently and effectively on a daily basis.
Daily mechanics log, describing in detail the work that was done each day, to be turned in each day.
Performs other duties as required by the company.
