Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level IV Trauma Center, requiring charge nurse capability and broad clinical competency across a wide patient age range.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a 49-bed short-term acute care facility designated as a Level IV Trauma Center
- Patient population spans from 1 month of age through end of life, requiring broad clinical competency
- Standard patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- 6 weekend shifts required per schedule period
- No on-call requirements
- No floating within the unit; however, travelers may be expected to float between facilities within the state
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license with TX privileges
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience
- Must be able to function as a fully independent staff nurse at a 1:6 ratio
- Charge nurse experience required, with ability to assume the charge nurse role independently
- Epic EMR experience required
- At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
- Free parking available in any unrestricted space
- Former permanent staff of this facility must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Refusal to float between facilities within the state may result in assignment termination
- Minimal RTO is strongly preferred; extensive time-off requests may impact assignment consideration
