Job Highlights
- Conduct armed patrols of hospital buildings and grounds (on foot and in vehicles), ensuring secure access control, visitor management, and safe traffic flow
- Respond to emergencies and security incidents as an armed first responder, collaborating with law enforcement and providing protective escort services
- Observe, investigate, and document safety or security threats through interviews, incident reports, and dispatch operations
- Manage property control procedures, safeguarding and releasing items in accordance with security protocols
Candidate Profile
- Must hold required armed security credentials, including FOID, PERC, Firearm Control Card (FCC), and certified firearms training (28+ hours), with the ability to qualify and maintain firearm proficiency
- Requires a valid Illinois, Wisconsin, or Indiana driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and ability to work in physically demanding, patrol-based roles (standing/walking, weather exposure, body armor)
- High school diploma/GED required; prior hospital security experience preferred; IAHSS certification to be earned within 6 months
- Demonstrate sound judgment, discretion with confidential matters, and strong customer service skills
