STARS Charter School is a K–8 public charter school serving students in Moore County, North Carolina. We are seeking dedicated, student-centered middle grades educators who value high expectations, strong relationships, and consistent instructional practices.

Teachers at STARS are expected to create structured, engaging classrooms where students are known, supported, and challenged academically. Instructional quality matters deeply, and we believe effective middle school teaching balances rigor, clarity, and positive relationships with adolescents.

This position serves students in grades 5–8. Content-area placement (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) will be determined based on licensure, experience, and school needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
  • Maintain a structured, consistent classroom environment that supports adolescent learners
  • Use assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instruction
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a range of academic and behavioral needs
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with families
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and school staff
  • Maintain accurate grades, lesson plans, and required documentation
  • Uphold school policies, expectations, and professional standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Valid North Carolina Teaching License (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Experience working with middle-grade students (5–8)
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior middle school teaching experience
  • Experience supporting adolescent development and behavior
  • Advanced degree and/or National Board Certification

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary aligned with the North Carolina State Salary Schedule
  • State retirement and benefits eligibility
  • Full-time, 10-month instructional position

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with instructional technology and data systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content area and grade-level standards
