POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Dietetic Technician

Department: Nursing Administration

Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Dietetic Technology Program and registration with the American Dietetic Association. Experience in long-term care preferred.

Position Information: Part Time, 24.0 hours per week

Essential Functions

  1. Ability to assess and document the nutritional needs of each resident in accordance with the resident's comprehensive assessment and care plan.
  1. Ability to counsel residents regarding dietary likes and dislikes, appetite, food habits and therapeutic menus.
  1. Ability to act as a liaison between the Culinary Department and residents.
  1. Ability to consistently work cooperatively with Culinary staff members.
  1. Ability to approve all permanent menu substitutions.
  1. Ability to assess and document residents’ cultural backgrounds that may affect food consumption
  1. Ability to perform other duties as directed by the Dietician or the Chief Nursing Officer
  1. Ability to observe infection control procedures.
  1. Ability to be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.
  1. Ability to follow Resident’s Rights policies at all times.
  1. Ability to know, understand, and exemplify the Mission and Values of Jennings: Respect, Compassion, Community, Discovery of Potential, and Celebration of Life.
  1. Ability to understand and comply with the Corporate Compliance program.
  1. Ability to work cooperatively with all staff, residents, families, and visitors.
  1. Ability to accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

  1. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  2. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and/or walking, as required by the position
  3. Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and other workplace technology
  4. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform the job-related tasks accurately and efficiently
  5. Visual, auditory, and verbal abilities necessary to communicate effectively and perform job duties
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  7. Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays if required
  8. Ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures
