Machinist - Surface Finish

We’re seeking a highly capable Surface Finish Technician to perform surface finish operations, optimize production processes, and ensure the highest standards of quality and precision in aerospace component manufacturing.

This position requires proficiency in surface finish and part polishing techniques, performing advanced inspections and quality checks using a variety of inspection equipment, strong problem- solving skills, and the ability to mentor and lead others in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Setup and operation of automated and manual polishing machines for high-precision aerospace parts.
• Interpret and validate complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
• Develop and refine machining processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
• Perform advanced inspections and quality checks using CMMs and other precision instruments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex surface finish issues.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support new product introductions and process validations.
• Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to entry level team members.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality or production issues.
• Maintain compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100) and internal procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to lean manufacturing efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience, including aerospace applications.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and GD&T.
• Skilled in using advanced inspection tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with AS9100 and other aerospace quality systems.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision work.
