Tool & Die Maker
Rochester Hills, MI
Pay rate: $37 - 42/hr based on experience
Day shift: 6/7am - 4/5pm, Monday - Friday. Overtime available
Note:
This is a new operation at this facility, seeking someone to take charge, will be required to follow or create set-up procedure and make suggestions for improvements
Limited traveling may be required in the beginning to New Jersey at the current metal-stamping facility
Job Summary:
Seeking a skilled Die Maker Technician to join a brand new operation at this facility.
Will teach and share his expertise with current tooling team.
Perform maintenance cleaning, inspect, set and sharpen punches, dies, polish forms for high-speed stamping of small brackets and electrical components.
Stamping Dies range from 25 ton to 500 ton press max, due to thickness of parts not size.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect tooling and dies for wear or damage.
• Sharpen and, when required, build new tooling components.
• Strip out and set up tooling using an arbor press.
• Operate tool room machinery, including surface grinders, ID grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, and saws.
• Use precision measuring instruments (Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators) to verify dimensions and clearances.
• Prioritize safety and quality in all repair activities.
• Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
Job Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of metal stamping Die Build or Die Retrofit experience
• Strong communication skills, excellent attendance record, and a collaborative team spirit.
Permanent position - 90 day contract to direct hire OR may consider direct hire for the right fit
