Position Overview:
The Florida State Guard is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Purchasing Agent to support the daily operations of the purchasing department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services necessary to support agency operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Solicit bids and proposals from vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality service
  • Review and evaluate requisitions for goods and services for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers and vendors
  • Administer and monitor contracts to ensure vendor compliance and performance standards are met
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
  • Coordinate with internal departments to identify procurement needs and timelines
  • Research and identify new vendors to improve purchasing efficiency and cost savings
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with applicable state regulations and procurement guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least one (1) year of verifiable experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing systems

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a government or public sector procurement environment
  • Familiarity with state purchasing regulations and contract administration is a plus
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field is preferred but not required

Work Environment:
  • Office and warehouse - based role located in Tallahassee, Florida
  • May require occasional travel for vendor meetings or procurement-related activities
