About this job
Job Description
Do you enjoy solving tough electrical problems on active production lines? Can you interface with PLCs for testing without touching the code? Do you stay cool when equipment—and people—are under pressure? If so, you’ll fit right in at CLX Engineering.
What will you do?- Perform electrical troubleshooting on industrial control systems, tracing I/O wiring, verifying device operation, and validating PLC interactions—without modifying or editing PLC programs.
- Operate safely around PLC-controlled machinery and electrical systems, following site and company safety practices.
- Collaborate with Integration Engineers during commissioning and punch-list completion at customer sites.
- Communicate status and findings clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Support varying schedules (nights/weekends) and travel to project locations, including extended deployments that may run six months or longer.
- Maintain a clean driving record to meet travel and on-site needs.
- Flex with changing project priorities and jump in where needed.
You will frequently be on customer sites, sometimes for extended rotations, followed by planned time off at home. Travel can range up to 35%–50% at times and may include local trips with little notice and longer trips with advance planning.
What do you need to bring?- High school diploma or AS degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 2+ years in an electrical role within industrial or similar environments.
- Clear, calm communication—especially when timelines are tight.
- Strong troubleshooting with PLCs and field I/O; comfortable interfacing for diagnostics without changing code.
- Competence with standard hand tools and a consistently professional presence.
- AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical proficiency.
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Studio/Logix 5000 or equivalents (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
In this role you’ll collaborate closely with Integration Engineers, sharpening your controls fundamentals while gaining commissioning experience—positioning you for future growth in automation and systems integration.
