CDR General Services is seeking a Ship Fitter to join our team in Charleston, MO. This position is ideal for an experienced professional in shipyard or barge repair environments. Job Details
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Location: Charleston, MO
- Pay Rate: $28 – $31 per hour (DOE)
- Schedule: Typically 40–50 hours per week (overtime may be required)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fitting, layout, and fabrication work on ships and barges
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders
- Measure, cut, fit, and align steel components according to specifications
- Tack weld parts to secure proper fit-up prior to final welding
- Repair and replace structural components such as plates, frames, and bulkheads
- Use hand tools, power tools, torches, and measuring equipment safely
- Work closely with welders and supervisors to ensure proper assembly and completion
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a fitter in shipyard, barge repair, or marine environments
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings
- Experience with structural steel fitting and alignment
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in confined spaces and under various weather conditions
- Physically able to stand, bend, lift, and perform demanding work
