Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Classification: Non-Exempt,Part-Time

Reports to: Executive Director, Jarvis Wright/Program Director of Day Program, Joy Orth

Essential Job Duties:

At CUP, Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing a fun, engaging, and safe space for those who attend our Day Program, they shall be responsible for the daily care, training, and supervision of our Adult individuals. These duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with self-care skills (hygiene, bathroom, feeding)
  • Intensive supervision (1:1, 1:6, 2:3)
  • Create and engage in activities, crafts, and games.
  • Socialize with clients.
  • Supervise and ensure safety during community outings.
  • Collaborate with CUP employees.
  • Help individuals on and off the vans every morning and afternoon.
  • Occasionally check with drivers to see if any changes with transportation have occurred.
  • Staff are required to transport consumers on out-trips in the community. Need to have valid drivers license to use company vehicles.
    • Report changes to the Program Specialist or supervisor.
  • Assist individuals with hanging coats/backpacks and taking lunches to the kitchen.
  • Check individual's backpacks for notes or spending money.
    • Give to the Day Program Assistant Director or a Program Specialist.
  • Thoroughly read each ISP before working with an individual and when an update is announced or communicated.
    • Each ISP and BSP must be signed off before the DSP is authorized to work alone with an individual.
  • Provide a fun and engaging experience for individuals.

In addition to the above essential job duties, below are additional requirements of all Day Program staff:

  • Attend and participate in CUP Day Program staff meetings every other Tuesday at 8:00 am.
  • Legibly complete written daily and monthly progress notes.
  • Comply with ODP's orientation and annual training requirements outlined in PA Code 55 Chapter 2380.38 & 23809.39.
  • Be a team player and offer help to other staff when help is needed.
  • Current license
  • Other related duties as needed.
  • Annual physical completed within 1 year of hire date, and every two years after.
  • Pa state police background check completed on hire.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to push/pull/lift to 50 pounds.
