Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Sous Chef / Expo Leader to join a well-established, high-volume upscale restaurant and boutique hospitality concept in Ann Arbor. This role is ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads from the front, and takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality guest experiences.
This is a key leadership position blending kitchen execution, team supervision, and expo leadership, ensuring every plate meets top-tier standards from line to table.
What You’ll Do
- Execute and oversee food preparation with a focus on quality, consistency, and presentation
- Lead expo shifts, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of all orders
- Supervise and support kitchen staff across all stations
- Maintain proper food levels, prep, and inventory awareness
- Enforce cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
- Collaborate closely with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service
- Oversee nightly closing procedures, including:
- Equipment shutdown
- Station and dish area cleanliness/restocking
- Staff checkout completion
- Step in as needed across all kitchen positions
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or strong Lead Line Cook
- Strong understanding of food execution, plating, and expo flow
- Ability to lead teams in high-volume, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stay composed under pressure and make quick decisions
- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Reliable attendance with strong accountability
Compensation & Benefits
