Job Description
A growing general contractor is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to support commercial construction projects across the West Coast. This onsite field position is ideal for individuals with strong experience managing jobsite documentation, coordinating field operations, and supporting superintendents in fast-paced, paperwork-heavy environments.
You’ll play a key role in managing day-to-day construction activities while handling essential project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and Procore logs. This is a high-visibility role with a clear pathway to Superintendent or Project Manager roles.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the Superintendent with daily jobsite operations and subcontractor coordination.
Maintain and manage documentation workflows:
RFIs (Requests for Information)
Submittals and product data sheets
Shop drawings and coordination reviews
Change order documentation
Daily field reports, photos, and logs
Update and track project data using Procore (or similar platforms).
Monitor project schedules and coordinate material deliveries.
Participate in subcontractor walkthroughs, inspections, and punchlist execution.
Support closeout processes, including documentation and compliance tracking.
Maintain safety standards and help facilitate daily safety huddles and inspections.
2+ years of commercial construction experience, ideally in a field-based Assistant Superintendent or document-heavy support role.
Strong familiarity with Procore, Microsoft Excel, and construction scheduling software.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and shop drawings.
Understanding of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and jobsite logistics.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Experience on tenant improvement (TI), large commercial, or commercial remodel projects preferred.
