Position Overview
The Superintendent is responsible for leading on-site construction operations for commercial projects from mobilization through final completion. This role oversees all field activities, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining schedule and budget goals.
Projects may include hospitality, multifamily, office, education, and commercial developments, often requiring a high level of coordination, attention to detail, and adaptability in dynamic environments. Teams are expected to deliver projects through a combination of preconstruction support, construction services, and collaborative delivery methods.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage day-to-day field operations from project start through closeout.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and trades to ensure work is completed according to schedule.
- Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules and ensure alignment with overall project timelines.
- Enforce jobsite safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Ensure all work meets project plans, specifications, and quality expectations.
- Conduct jobsite meetings and maintain clear communication with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Review drawings and proactively identify constructability issues and potential conflicts.
- Manage jobsite logistics, material deliveries, and sequencing of work.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure timely approvals from governing authorities.
- Track progress through daily reports, schedules, and field documentation.
- Oversee punch list completion and manage project closeout activities.
- 7–15+ years of experience as a Superintendent for a general contractor.
- Experience managing commercial construction projects, including ground-up and/or renovations.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple trades and jobsite teams.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects in fast-paced environments.
- Experience working on hospitality, multifamily, office, or institutional projects.
- Familiarity with design-build, preconstruction coordination, or fast-track delivery methods.
- Proficiency with construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, or scheduling software.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
