Maintenance Supervisor

Responsibilities
This position, located in Muskegon County, MI, is responsible for executing the preventative maintenance program in collaboration with engineering and maintenance staff. The Maintenance Supervisor will participate in safety inspections, oversee repairs and preventative maintenance activities, coordinate with outside contractors, support plant operations, and maintain responsibility for both equipment and building maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises an effective team through planning meetings, conducting performance appraisals, managing staffing levels, and supporting career development.
  • Provides feedback and performance coaching to enhance employee engagement, morale, and productivity.
  • Oversees training and orientation programs to ensure compliance with EHS requirements and company policies.
  • Maintains compliance with collective bargaining agreements; serves as liaison between management and union officials; addresses and resolves grievances.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Schedules maintenance activities and assigns work teams to meet operational needs.
  • Reviews reports, identifies opportunities for improvement, and resolves production or maintenance issues to minimize downtime and costs.
  • Conducts inspections of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operation and utilization.
  • Promotes a culture of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Supports TPM, Kaizen, and synchronous manufacturing initiatives to drive efficiency and performance.
  • Coordinates and manages relationships with outside contractors and vendors.
  • Participates in safety audits, inspections, and plant improvement projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support operational objectives.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a maintenance department
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience with TPM, synchronous manufacturing, and Kaizen concepts
  • Strong communication and team-building skills across all organizational levels
  • Technically oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and capable of promoting and implementing change initiatives
  • Proficient in PC applications and documentation systems
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
