Position Overview

The Assistant Superintendent supports field operations on ground-up multifamily construction projects, primarily focused on urban infill developments in the San Diego area. This role works closely with the Lead Superintendent to coordinate daily jobsite activities, manage subcontractors, and ensure projects stay on schedule and meet quality and safety standards.

This position is ideal for someone early in their construction career who has multifamily experience and is looking to grow into a Superintendent role while gaining hands-on exposure to podium and infill construction in tight, high-density environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Superintendent in managing daily field operations on multifamily construction projects.
  • Support scheduling efforts, including trade coordination and sequencing of work.
  • Help oversee subcontractors, deliveries, and jobsite logistics.
  • Participate in daily huddles and weekly coordination meetings with project teams.
  • Maintain jobsite safety standards, cleanliness, and overall organization.
  • Review construction drawings and scopes to prepare for upcoming work.
  • Track inspections, punch list items, and overall project progress.
  • Coordinate materials and assist with planning work in tight urban jobsite conditions.
  • Provide daily reports, site photos, and progress updates to project management.
  • Identify and communicate field issues to the Superintendent in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in construction, ideally in a field-based role such as Assistant Superintendent or Foreman.
  • Experience working on ground-up multifamily construction projects.
  • Exposure to infill or podium construction is highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong work ethic with a desire to learn and advance within field operations.
  • Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
