Job Description

The Safety Specialist at our client’s New Martinsville, WV facility plays a crucial role in advancing occupational health and safety initiatives. This position emphasizes sustainable risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and cultivating a proactive safety culture through comprehensive program development, training, auditing, and active employee engagement within a medium-sized safety team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver effective safety training and orientation programs for employees and contractors.
  • Support site emergency preparedness and participate on the emergency response team.
  • Collaborate with industrial hygiene and medical teams to mitigate health-related risks.
  • Assist in managing the facility’s security program and act as backup Facility Security Officer.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and support corrective measures.
  • Lead employee safety committees and promote safety awareness initiatives.
  • Analyze safety data and incident reports to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture throughout the facility.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in industrial safety and health.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field is required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and best practices in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, plant-based environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial safety and health.
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA regulations and risk management.
  • Expertise in safety training, incident investigation, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and multitasking skills.
