Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking ABEM/AOBEM Emergency Medicine Physicians for an expanded, long-term locum tenens need in Topeka, Kansas.

The coverage requirement represents substantial ongoing availability for physicians seeking a dependable locums schedule. Expect a 34,000-visit Level III Trauma ED, approximately 2 patients per hour, 22 ED beds, Epic EMR, and a physician/APP coverage model within a 378-bed hospital.

The assignment begins ASAP once credentialed and is expected to continue for 6+ months, with approximately 14 shifts per month available. Physicians must be willing to rotate across the department's day, swing, and night coverage needs.

Schedule

Physicians must provide flexibility across day, swing, and night shifts. Days-only availability cannot be accommodated.

Current shift structures include:

• 6:00 AM–6:00 PM
• 11:00 AM–11:00 PM
• Weekend Swing: 11:00 AM–9:00 PM
• 6:00 PM–6:00 AM

Approximately 14 shifts per month are available.

Clinical Scope & Practice Environment

This is a hospital-based Emergency Medicine practice combining meaningful acuity with a defined workload of approximately 2 patients per hour.

Physicians practice within an established MD + APP model and are responsible for APP supervision. The department sees approximately 34,000 patients annually across 22 ED beds and operates as a Level III Trauma environment with Epic for clinical documentation.

Requirements

• MD or DO
• ABEM or AOBEM Board Certified or Board Eligible
• Board-eligible physicians must be within 5 years of eligibility
• Emergency Medicine training required
• 1–3 years of Emergency Medicine experience
• ACLS, ATLS, PALS
• Comfortable supervising APPs
• Ability to rotate across day, swing, and night coverage
• Active Kansas license preferred
• IMLC pathway accepted

Family Medicine and Internal Medicine-trained physicians are not accepted for this opportunity.

Credentialing

The facility will release its application and begin processing while a license is pending, making this a viable opportunity for qualified physicians pursuing Kansas licensure through the IMLC.

• Temporary/emergency privileges available
• Temporary privileges may be obtained in approximately 30 days depending on file and coverage timing
• Standard credentialing process is approximately 60 days

Physicians with active Kansas licensure remain preferred for the fastest path to coverage.
