Manual Machinist

Position: Manual Machinist – OD Cylindrical Grinding & Manual Lathe Experience Required
Location: Greater Chicago Area
Pay: $23 - $28 + per hour depending on experience

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist with a strong background operating manual lathes, OD cylindrical grinders, and manual mills in a precision manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision work, tight tolerances, and producing high-quality machined components with minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Operate manual lathes, OD cylindrical grinders, and manual mills
• Perform precision machining and grinding on metal components
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements
• Hold tight tolerances and maintain quality standards
• Set up machines, select tooling, and inspect finished parts
• Work with a variety of materials in a production and/or job shop environment

Preferred Experience:
• Strong OD cylindrical grinding experience
• Experience operating engine lathes and manual milling equipment
• Ability to perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Blueprint reading and shop math skills
• Tool room, prototype, or precision machining background is a plus
