The mainmissionof the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, since its founding, has remainedto teach the Word of God as found in the Christian Bible (Romans 10:13-15), edify and equip the saints to be committed followers of Jesus Christ and His teachings (Ephesians 4:11-13), and present an authentic representation of traditional, Biblical Christianity (Philippians 1:9-11). Job Overview:This role is vitalto the Success of the City Rescue Mission.TheFood ServiceCoordinatoroversees the service ofthe meal to theguestsoftheir assigned facility, managing volunteers and guestcleaning crews to ensure the cafeteria and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized properly.The2ndShiftCoordinator is also responsible, as assigned, for picking up the meal from the Offsite Kitchen and delivering it to all facilities and ending their shift by picking up leftovers from all facilities and returning to the Offsite Kitchen.TheCoordinatormust have an excellent grasp on food safety, multitask well, and be able tomaintaina cleanand organizedworkstationunder pressure.TheCoordinatormust be friendly and encouraging whilemaintainingshelter policy andprocedure withconsistency and firmness. TheCoordinatormust also be able to complete tasks independently and accurately, meeting deadlines every time. TheCoordinatormust be able to enforce food safety rules and City Rescue Mission policiestovolunteersand guests in a consistent and caring manner.
Expected Schedule-1stor2ndShift-1stShift Coordinator is to be available between 6am and 10am.2ndShift coordinator is to be available between 4pm and 9pm.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee the service of the meal to all facility guests, managing volunteers and guests as theyassistwith serving- ensuring food safety rules and best practices are being followed
- Manage guest cleaning crews and volunteers ensuring the cafeteria, kitchen, and storage areas are cleaned thoroughly every shift
- Do some meal prep, including opening cans of fruit, preparing pitchers of beverages, and other tasks as needed
- One Food Service Coordinator pershiftwill act as the driver, starting at the Offsite Kitchen to pick up the meal, drop off at the facility where they are not working and then ending their shift by picking up leftovers at the other facility and ending at the offsite kitchen
- Maintain logs of food and refrigerator temperatures to ensure food safety andaccuraterecord keeping
- Sort and put away incoming items that are stored in the warming kitchens/storage spaces- ensuring things are dated and stock is rotated
- Do inventory of the available items every shift- ensuring every item is dated, within date, andbeing rotated
- Communicating with all other Food Service staff viaEmailcommunicating needs, numbers, and other relevant information
- Attend all meetings and training sessions as scheduled
- Show the love of Christ, be ready to share the gospel, and pray with guestsregularly
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma-Required
- ServSafeCertified or able to be Certified within90 daysof Employment-Preferred
- Driver'sLicense-Required
- Proficient use of the Microsoft Suite-Preferred

- Ability to drive a company vehicle safely and responsibly
- Ability to proficiently use a phone system that spans multiple facilities- including answering, transferring, putting calls on hold, etc. Within15 daysof introduction.

Environment
TheFood Service Coordinatorwill need to be able to consistently work in a noisy anddistraction-filledenvironment.TheCoordinatorstask will occasionally require them to work in low temperatures,high temperatures, outdoor elements (e.g.rain, wind, snow),and small/enclosed spaces.
Physical Requirements-
Thebelow listed abilitiesare required tobe able to complete the essential duties of the role:
TheFood Service Coordinatorwill need to be able to navigate stairs-quickly and proficiently navigatingup to2flights of stairs whenever needed. They will constantly need to be able to lift 25lbs in all directionsand will occasionally need to lift 50+lbsin all directions.They will need to be able to complete 1-2 hours of physically taxing work without a break and stand or walk for 3+hours without sitting down.They will occasionally need to complete 3+ hours of physically taxing work withoutabreak.
TheFood Service Coordinatorwill need to be able to constantly complete visual scans of indoor/outdoor areasinvarying levels of light. They will need to occasionally complete tasks with repetitive motions that include thewrists,handsand/or fingers. They will need to be able to constantly communicate clearly with others to exchange information.
