Job Summary

Southwind Construction, a subsidiary of Quivera Enterprises, LLC, is seeking a Construction Laborer to support field operations across federal, industrial, and commercial construction projects. This role performs a wide range of physical tasks including site preparation, material handling, equipment support, demolition, cleanup, and assisting skilled trades.

The Construction Laborer must demonstrate reliability, physical stamina, and strict adherence to safety procedures while working effectively as part of a construction team in dynamic job site environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Labor & Site Support
  • Perform site preparation including clearing debris, unloading materials, and staging supplies
  • Assist carpenters, equipment operators, and other trades as directed
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact soil
  • Load, unload, and distribute building materials to appropriate locations
  • Erect and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding, barricades, and fencing
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely
  • Assist with demolition activities including removal of concrete, drywall, flooring, and other materials
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and job site procedures
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and weekly toolbox meetings
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to reduce hazards
  • Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents to the Supervisor or SSHO
  • Comply with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 requirements, as well as project-specific safety standards
Equipment & Tool Support
  • Assist with operation of small equipment such as compactors, saws, drills, and generators
  • Inspect tools and equipment prior to use and report defects
  • Maintain and properly store tools and equipment at the end of each shift
Material Handling & Logistics
  • Move, lift, and position materials manually or with equipment assistance
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying material quantities
  • Support site logistics including traffic control, staging, and general coordination
Site Cleanup & Housekeeping
  • Perform daily cleanup of work areas including debris removal and waste disposal
  • Maintain safe walkways, work zones, and storage areas
  • Assist with stormwater protection measures and erosion control activities
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (up to Top Secret)
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, climbing, and prolonged standing
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with team members and clients
  • Subject to background check, drug screening, and confidentiality requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in construction or general labor
  • Experience supporting federal, industrial, or commercial construction projects
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and small equipment
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
Certifications

Required within the first year of employment:

  • Bloodborne Pathogen Training
  • First Aid / CPR Certification
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety
  • Hazard Communication Training
  • Fall Protection (Worker)
  • Confined Space Awareness
  • 40-Hour EM 385-1-1 Hazard Recognition Course
  • Additional safety training as required by project needs
Physical Demands – IT / Office Role

This position may require occasional administrative or coordination tasks.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and working on a computer
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds (occasionally more)
  • Visual acuity including close, distance, and color vision required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a professional office environment
  • Occasional travel and extended hours may be required
Physical Demands – Construction / Field Role

This position is primarily performed in active construction environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions. The employee is required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
