Overview
A respected boutique litigation firm in Manhattan's Financial District is seeking an Auto Liability & Coverage Defense Attorney to join its team. This role is heavily focused on auto liability and insurance coverage matters, including managing a core client account that will constitute the majority of the caseload.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience handling auto-related cases and coverage issues, along with a genuine interest in continuing to focus on auto liability and insurance defense work long-term.
The Role
This position is best suited for an attorney with 3+ years of hands-on experience in auto liability and insurance coverage defense, who can independently manage cases from inception through resolution. The role requires strong familiarity with high-volume auto claims and insurance-driven litigation, and a commitment to building expertise in this practice area.
Key Responsibilities
· Defend auto liability cases and insurance coverage matters in New York state and federal courts
· Take primary ownership of a key auto account, handling a high volume of similar matters
· Analyze and handle coverage issues, including policy interpretation and liability determination
· Manage cases independently from intake through resolution
· Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda
· Conduct and defend depositions
· Appear in court for conferences, hearings, and trials
· Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and courts
· Collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategy
Qualifications
· Admission to the New York Bar (required)
· 3+ years of relevant experience in auto liability and insurance coverage defense
· Demonstrated success handling auto-related cases/accounts effectively (critical requirement)
· Genuine interest in continuing a career focused on auto liability and insurance defense
· Strong experience in depositions, motion practice, and court appearances
· Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
· Experience working with insurance carriers and auto claims
· Excellent legal writing, research, and communication skills
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
