General Summary
The Director of Food and Beverage Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all dining programs across the campus, ensuring a high-quality, resident-centered experience. This role oversees all aspects of food and beverage operations, combining culinary innovation, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and team leadership to deliver efficient, sustainable, and health-conscious meal services.
With a strong understanding of the impact dining has on overall well-being, the Director is responsible for creating an engaging environment that supports the social, emotional, and physical health of residents. By optimizing operations and fostering a culture of excellence, this role ensures that the dining program enhances community satisfaction and contributes to a vibrant, welcoming place that residents are proud to call home.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead the development and execution of diverse, seasonal, and nutritionally balanced dining programs
- Oversee menu planning, catering services, and special events across the community
- Ensure meal offerings support resident wellness, satisfaction, and dietary preferences
- Monitor dining quality, presentation, and overall service standards
- Create a resident-centered dining experience by actively gathering and responding to resident feedback
- Support flexible dining options, including take-out services and convenience store offerings
- Foster a welcoming and engaging dining environment that promotes community connection and satisfaction
- Address resident concerns and continuously identify opportunities to enhance dining services
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, operational costs, labor expenses, and inventory controls
- Implement strategic purchasing practices and utilize GPO resources to maintain financial sustainability
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings
- Utilize POS systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace tools to support reporting and operational effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety regulations
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness, safety, and regulatory standards
- Oversee responsible alcohol service operations and maintain liquor license compliance
- Maintain current knowledge of food service regulations and industry best practices
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop culinary and dining services staff
- Manage staff scheduling and ensure appropriate operational coverage across all shifts
- Foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
- Provide coaching, performance management, and ongoing professional development opportunities
- Minimum of 5 years of food and beverage management experience
- Leadership experience within senior living, hospitality, healthcare, or high-volume dining environments preferred
- Experience overseeing large-scale dining operations, catering, and special events
- Strong budgeting, cost control, operational management, and financial planning skills
- Experience with inventory management, purchasing systems, and operational reporting
- Proficiency in POS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace
- Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and health code compliance
- Current ServeSafe certification required
- Liquor license certification strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering exceptional resident and guest experiences
