American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Details- Intermediate Medical Care (IMC)/Stepdown/PCU unit within a 562-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care hospital
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating is required for all travelers, both within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities
- No on-call requirements
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, respiratory, renal, and post-surgical cases
- Required skills include cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (including titration), arterial and central line management, PICC line management, port access, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
- Respiratory skills required include ventilator care, tracheostomy management, chest tube management, HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, and ABG interpretation
- Neurological case experience required includes CVA, TBI, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery
- Cardiac case experience required includes post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR Band
- Additional required skills include feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, PCA, and procedural sedation
- Active IL RN license required — pending licensure not accepted
- Active BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS preferred
- AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Candidates who have been a permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
- RTO of up to 5 non-holiday days is ideally the maximum; additional time off requires facility approval
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Parking is available on-site at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
- Any solid scrub color is acceptable
- 13-week contract
