About the Company

Our client is a well-established, locally owned business with decades of experience specializing in the refurbishment, servicing, and resale of precision optometry equipment. They play a critical behind-the-scenes role supporting eye care providers by extending the life and performance of highly specialized machinery.

This is a small, tight-knit, Veteran-owned team known for their hands-on expertise, steady demand, and commitment to quality workmanship. If you enjoy working on intricate machines and seeing tangible results from your work, this is a unique environment where your skills will be put to good use.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on, part-time role supporting the repair, rebuild, and maintenance of precision optometry machinery. You’ll work directly with mechanical and electronic systems—troubleshooting issues, rebuilding components, and helping prepare machines for resale.

There is strong potential for this role to grow into a larger opportunity for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rebuild and service optometry machines for resale and customer use
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic control systems and enclosure controllers
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting and repair on circuit boards
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems within machinery
  • Work with three-axis CNC tabletop machines used for precision cutting
  • Read and interpret schematics to identify and resolve issues
  • Collaborate directly with ownership on priorities, progress, and problem-solving

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with soldering (especially CPU/circuit boards)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills at the circuit board and system level
  • Ability to read and work from electrical schematics
  • Experience working with or around CNC-controlled equipment (3-axis preferred)
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and comfort working with physical equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electronic control boxes and electrical systems

Nice to Have

  • Experience building or repairing wiring harnesses
  • Background working with precision machinery or similar equipment

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Flexible, part-time schedule with consistent hours
  • Opportunity to work on specialized, interesting machinery
  • High visibility and direct communication with business owners
  • Real growth potential as the business continues to expand
  • Ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving over desk work
