Job Title: Advanced Automotive Technician (Tech 2)
Department: Repair / Quality
Location: Multiple Locations
Pay rate: $36 / hour on 1099
Job Summary
The Advanced Automotive Technician is responsible for vehicle inspection, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. This role involves working with mechanical and electrical systems, performing computer-based diagnostics, and communicating repair needs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, including computer-based diagnostics
- Repair or replace defective components
- Interpret electrical schematics and perform testing as needed
- Utilize diagnostic and shop equipment effectively
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Communicate technical issues and repair recommendations clearly to customers and team members
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of automotive repair experience or equivalent training
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and basic computer skills
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and CAN communication
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and overtime
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments
- Must provide own professional automotive tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OEM or luxury vehicles
- Automotive technician certification (ASE or equivalent)
- Experience with electric vehicles (EV)
- Familiarity with ADAS systems (diagnosis, repair, calibration)
- Experience with fabrication, wiring, or harness building
- EPA 609 Certification or OEM Master Technician Certification
- Previous senior or lead technician experience
