Job Description
Ability to organize, communicate, and lead the team to a successful event. Motivate staff and create a positive, cohesive team to deliver exceptional service. Maintain complete knowledge of hotel standards as well as departmental standards. Knowledgeable of correct use and maintenance of all equipment’s. Cleanliness is the responsibility of all employees. Full understanding of all banquet menus and beverages specified by the group. Being flexible and ability to quickly respond to client needs. Ability to focus and pay attention to all details of the event.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- To effectively and efficiently supervise the staff to ensure successful banquet events.
- Responsible for training staff and maintaining a high level of performance according to hotel standards.
- Should be ready to assist at any time to ensure optimum service to our guests.
- Knowledgeable of daily features and activities within the hotel
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment always.
- Ability to follow directions from the client, Banquet Director, Banquet Manager as well as the Catering and Conference Services Manager.
- Ability to execute banquet events with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Banquet serving experience required. Past banquet captain experience preferred.
- Past supervisory experience preferred.
- Any previous culinary training.
- High school graduate, some college.
- Minimum of 21 years of age to service alcoholic beverages to guests.
- Certification of alcohol awareness program, training in food, wine & liquor service preferred.
- CPR certification preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to communicate in English to management, co-workers, and to the guests understanding.
- Ability to provide legible communication.
- Ability to use Springer Miller POS and manual systems.
Organizational skills to lead a team to a successful event. Ability to utilize Springer Miller POS, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift minimum weight of 20lbs.
- Capable of working consecutive hours without sitting down.
- Ability to lift and carry trays and ovals.
- 95% - Stands during shift. 5% - Sitting for opening and closing paperwork.
- 70% - Reaching, bending, lifting.
Hourly rate is $38/hour
