HIRING IMMEDIATELY: MANUAL LATHE MACHINIST IN HOUSTON, TX

Accurate Personnel is hiring immediately for a Manual Lathe Machinist to join our team in Houston, TX. This individual will be responsible for performing set up and operation of manual machinery (Weiler) in order to prepare metallic and non-metallic parts required in the production of inflatable packers and downhole tools or other products offered to TAM customers and other clients. $30/hour pay rate

1st shift schedule, 5 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Located in Houston, TX

Duties and Responsibilities

Review blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.
Identify, produce and gauge a variety of straight and taper threads, including Acme and buttress.
Measure, mark and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining.
Select, align and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines to include mills, lathes and grinders.
Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust the machine controls or control media as necessary.
Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
Confer with production personnel, engineers or others to resolve machining or assembly issues.
Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention.
Maintain clean and orderly work area.
Threading (Acme, Buttress, API)
Blueprint reading
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements and Qualifications

Requires a one-year certificate from a college or technical school with a minimum of three (3) years running Weiler machines; minimum of five (5) years work experience in lieu of certificate running Weiler machines is acceptable.
Manual lathe experience
Able to use precision measuring tools.
Must be able to accurately program and set up machine tools within company operating system.
Must have API oilfield tapered threading experience (Buttress, IF, 8 round…etc.) as well as experience cutting Acme, Stub Acme, and other straight and tapered threads.
Ability to work under a minimum of supervision. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to machining of inflatable packers or related downhole tools.
Must have own tools adequate to perform job. Must have proven past knowledge of machines.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or complete routine reports.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as angles, lengths, diameters in decimals and fractions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
