You will collaborate closely with oncologists, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, compassionate patient care, and adherence to strict safety protocols to protect both patients and staff. Ultimately, your work will contribute significantly to improving patient outcomes and quality of life through effective radiation therapy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
  • Certification as a Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Valid state licensure to practice as a Radiation Therapist in the United States.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a hospital or cancer treatment center setting.
  • Advanced training or certification in specialized radiation therapy techniques such as IMRT or stereotactic radiosurgery.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and treatment planning software.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and operate radiation therapy equipment to deliver precise doses of radiation as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
  • Position patients accurately and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the treatment process.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and report any concerns to the medical team promptly.
  • Maintain detailed records of treatments, dosages, and patient progress in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review treatment plans and adjust procedures as necessary to optimize patient care.
  • Ensure all radiation safety protocols are followed to protect patients, staff, and the public from unnecessary exposure.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advances in radiation therapy technology and techniques.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Radiation Therapist to accurately operate complex radiation equipment and deliver treatments safely and effectively. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care. Attention to detail and critical thinking are used daily to verify treatment plans and adjust patient positioning to optimize outcomes. Preferred skills such as proficiency with treatment planning software and advanced therapy techniques enhance the therapist's ability to provide cutting-edge care.
