Funeral Arranger – General Description:
Sit with families in an office setting - that have had a recent death; present disposition options (burial/cremation); complete required legal documents, authorizations, and contracts; schedule services and ceremonies by confirming locations, schedule the officiant, and schedule all details concerning funeral arrangements and services.
Funeral Arranger General Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Learn General Price List and be able to quote prices for basic cemetery, funeral home, and cremation options; Provide information associated with services and products courteously and in a polite and caring manner; with a goal to meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations.
Book appointments in company calendar, making sure to include/document all information received on the intake form.
Prepares case files prior to appointments, as needed.
Meet with families to complete all funeral, cremation and/or burial arrangements, documents.
Collect payments from customers.
Work through case file check lists after meeting with a family.
Receive and label clothing from families, complete intake form, and place clothing in preparation area.
Release of cremated remains to families picking up urns; following all written procedures and completing the necessary paperwork.
Welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Maintains security by following company procedures.
Maintains safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Become proficient in our cemetery mapping software; give locations to those inquiring in the cemetery office, by phone, or via email. Input old historical records into cemetery database and mapping software during times when business is slow.
Become proficient in assisting lead Funeral Director with viewings, memorial services, and funerals, as a backup funeral attendant, as needed.
Support Funeral Director and Location Manager in growing market share through delivery of exceptional and personal service to our clients.
Interfacing with families and assisting in providing support to them as needed.
Ensure adherence to all professional, municipal, provincial/state and federal licensing authority regulations and rules applicable to the provision of funeral services and being a funeral arranger.
Aftercare includes delivery of documents, stationery, documentation, information on insurance, health benefits and pension, pre-arrangements for next of kin.
Working with physicians, hospitals, county coroner offices and health depts. To secure death certificates.
Office duties such as operating fax machine, computer, multi-line phone system, debit and credit card machine, typewriter, and stereo/video system may be required to be operated from time to time.
Answering phones, preparing reports as necessary and participating in staff meetings.
General Office Duites, paper work, filing, answering phones.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
